Tamsin works in the south-west corner of Oxfordshire, covering the Wantage & Grove area. Joining Dementia Oxfordshire in April 2019, Tamsin brings with her many useful transferable skills from her previous career in Human Resources where listening, empathy and providing information & advice, are part and parcel of what she has been doing for over 30 years.
“I thoroughly enjoy my role as a Dementia Adviser, working with people with dementia, as well as their families. When a close family member of mine was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago, it was hard to find any support. Nowadays, there are lots of services available, and this is where Dementia Oxfordshire can help you. Working as a Dementia Adviser feels like a natural progression for me. I enjoy helping Carers by signposting them to what they need in order to care for someone with dementia. It is happily the most fulfilling role I have ever had, and I regard it as such a privilege to be part of someone’s journey living with dementia.”
Tamsin’s career started off in the Diplomatic Service of the Foreign Office, living and working in British Embassies in Denmark, Poland and Cameroon in West Africa. Since then, she has spent the latter part of her life as an HR Generalist working in Human Resources & Recruitment, in a variety of business areas but most particularly Education and Telecommunications.
Tamsin holds NVQs in Dementia Care & End of Life Care, as well as a Diploma in Dementia Studies.
